Young Professionals Return Home: DHM Team in Marianna is Growing

MARIANNA: Marianna natives, Brent Melvin and Vance Coley, are the newest additions to the DHM Melvin Engineering team

Brent E. Melvin, P.E., is a graduate of Chipola College and the University of Florida. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with over 7 years’ experience in both the private and public sectors. Prior to joining DHM, Brent worked in the Gainesville area with a focus on a variety of commercial and residential land development projects throughout Florida. He was later was hired by FDOT District 2, working as a designer in the District Drainage Office. Following a move to the Tampa area, Brent rejoined the private sector and gained extensive experience in a variety of engineering design processes including site layout, transportation, stormwater management, and utilities. His passion is to utilize his range of experience to assist clients in achieving their goals through innovative design solutions and effective project management. Brent’s wife, MaryBeth Melvin, M.D. is a Chipley native and recently joined Jackson Hospital as a Pediatrician.

Vance Coley

Vance D. Coley is a 2010 graduate of Marianna High School, where he also attended Chipola College. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University, he attended the University of Alabama School of Law.  Following in the political footsteps of his parents, the late David Coley, a former State Representative, and Marti Coley, also a former State Representative, Vance staffed a statewide campaign for Senator Denise Grimsley and served as Director of the successful campaign of State Representative Elizabeth Fetterhoff.   His panhandle roots, coupled with his experience in marketing, communications, sales management, and in the political realm, make Vance a uniquely qualified Project Manager for the DHM Grants Division. “Having watched both Vance and Brent grow up, leave our area to spread their wings and then return as young professionals passionate to bring a positive impact to our rural communities is both exciting and fulfilling for me”, stated David Melvin.
