LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Say yes to the DMH tax
During my 14 year tenure on the Board of Directors of Doctors Memorial Hospital, I observed many reductions over the years to the reimbursement and funding for rural hospitals. The board and administration worked with our legislators each year to try and obtain needed equipment to continue to progress and improve the services offered. Doctors Memorial was successful in 2017 of getting an appropriation for the purchase of our very own MRI machine.
The Board was also able to work out an agreement with the Bond holders through a Forbearance Agreement as to give the hospital some time to turn things around. The hospital is one of the finest in the country, and Holmes County should be proud to have quality healthcare close to home. I truly miss serving on the Board; however, I had to resign due to medical reasons December 11, 2019. I wish Doctors Memorial Hospital the best and I plan on voting YES on November 3rd to keep Health care close to home. I hope you will do the same.
