Florida crossed another grim milestone Wednesday as the state now has more than 300,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

The state health department reported 10,181 new infections Wednesday, the sixth time in the last seven days the number of new cases exceeded 10,000 and three days after Florida set the single-day record for any state with 15,300 infections Sunday.

The 301,810 Sunshine State cases are nearly as many as recorded so far in the U.K., which has recorded 291,373 cases with three times as many people, and Spain, with 303,699 cases and more than twice the population.

The 112 fatalities added Wednesday brings the cumulative total to 4,521.

Health officials reported Wednesday there are 8,374 current COVID 19 patients admitted into hospitals throughout the state.
