Governor Ron DeSantis and Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez will make an announcement Mater Academy Charter School in Hialeah Gardens, June 24.

Florida continues to see an uptick of COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday with 5508 cases reported since yesterday. That ’s an increase of 1,459 cases or 36% more than the previous daily record of 4,049 announced on Saturday, June 20.

This marks the sixth time in the past seven days the state has reported more than 3,000 new cases.

The Sunshine State’s total now is 109, 014. The number of reported deaths increased to 3281.

The total number of people who have been hospitalized is 13325, though the Department of Health notes that figure does not reflect the number of COVID-19 patients currently in hospitals.

Florida joins five other states - California, Texas, New York, New Jersey and Illinois - where the number of cases have topped 100,000.
