Blue Devil Cadet perform well in JLAB

HOLMES COUNTY - On December 2nd, The Holmes County Blue Devil Battalion hosted their very first JLAB competition. JLAB stands for JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl. 

To make the Leadership and Academic Bowl team, all cadets took a practice test on things they have learned thru out their tenure in High School JROTC. The top scores five cadets in the 9TH and 10th grade made up the Academic Team.

The selected cadets for the Academic portion Seth Crutchfield, Emma Schild, Katelyn Biddle, Gavin Braddy, and Dylan Thomas.

The top five 10th and 11th graders took a more advanced portion about leadership during their practice round and were selected to participate on the Leadership bowl. On the leadership test, the cadets have to know precise knowledge on what they would do in certain situations. The selected cadets for the Academic portion were Seth Crutchfield, Emma Schild, Katelyn Biddle, Gavin Braddy, and Dylan Thomas.

The leadership team was made up of the following cadets: Darci Farring, Caleb Welier, Shakara Martin, Nathan Edminson, and Clinton Wilkerson. Both teams did exceptional well in Level One and are on patiently waiting to see if they get to advance to Level Two. If the cadets do exceptionally well and score high enough to advance to level three with is the championships, they will travel to Washington D.C. to compete in a head to head match with other JROTC programs. Both JLAB Teams are crossing their fingers and hope to advance all the way to Washington D.C and win this year.
