Blue Devil Battalion Makes Debut
BONIFAY - The first event of SY 2020 - 21 for the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) of Holmes County High School took place on the brisk Saturday morning of September 19.
Cadets appeared at the Blue Devils’ First Responders football game beaming with glee, specifically the JROTC, all-female, Color Guard. As Cadet Captain Harley Seluga, commanded the Color Guard, carrying the United States Flag, with ambition and anticipation our Nation’s Colors rippled in the wind.
The Color Guard also consisted of Cadet Corporal Payton Harrington carrying the Right Rifle, Cadet Private First Class Greenleigh Stubbs, presenting the State’s Colors, and Cadet Private First Class Loreili Siniard carrying the Left Rifle. In the first photograph, standing from left to right; Cadet Payton Harrington, Cadet Harley Seluga, Cadet Greenleigh Stubbs and Cadet Loreili Sinard. These young women marched across the field with honor and grace as they represented the Blue Devils Battalion.
Let us not forget about the other Cadets in attendance at the Blue Devils football game. Ahead of the football game Cadet Private First Class Dylan Thomas and Cadet Corporal Clinton Wilkerson hoisted the State Flag and the United States Flag to the top of the flagpole. After the Blue Devils beat the Graceville Tigers, Cadets Dylan Thomas and Clinton Wilkerson lowered and folded our Nation’s Flag and the State Flag.
These two Cadets were thrilled to be on the Blue Devil Battalion flag detail. The second photograph exhibits Cadet Dylan Thomas on the left saluting, as Cadet Clinton Wilkerson stands on the right raising the United States Flag. In the third photograph, Cadet Clinton Wilkerson stands on the left, observing as Cadet Dylan Thomas stands on the right, folding the flag. Toward the end of the game each Cadet, who attended the game, portrayed the Blue Devils Battalion in their own unique ways.
