Worley Charity Fish Fry a rousing success

BONIFAY- Organizers of a charity fish fry held last weekend to raise money for a family who lost their home in a house fire said the event was a rousing success.

The event sold over 400 plants and garnered over $14,000 to aid in the recovery efforts.

The family, according to Holmes County School Board Member Shirley Owens, were two former educators of the community and the event was a godsend for them.

"Thank you, Thank You,"' Owens said. "To God be the Glory." To everyone who attended and contributed to the benefit, the support and out pouring of love is appreciated more than you can ever know. Please send up a praise to our Heavenly Father for his blessing on all our efforts."

Owens said she and her husband thank you from the bottom of our hearts as the Worley’s do also. She said they had a great turnout and it was truly a community effort.

"I cannot name everyone who served, baked  cakes, helped cook, worked curbside, made donations, cleaned up, and set up," she said. "But you know who you are and God will bless you."
