PONCE DE LEON MAN FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES FOLLOWING PURSUIT
HOLMES COUNTY – Deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office responded Wednesday, June 10, to a pursuit already in progress by Walton County Sheriff’s Deputies of a subject traveling eastbound on Highway 90 toward Ponce de Leon at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
The subject, identified as 38-year-old Simeon Lee Prevatt of Ponce de Leon, then led law enforcement north down Valee Road and on Tram Road before wrecking the stolen vehicle he was driving on Tram Road, just south of White Road.
Prevatt then fled on foot into a wooded area west of Tram Road but was quickly apprehended.
During the course of taking Prevatt into custody, he was found to be in possession of a smoking pipe that contained a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine, as well as multiple other items of stolen property.
A check with dispatch also revealed Prevatt to not possess a valid driver’s license and to have multiple prior convictions for driving while his license was suspended or revoked.
Prevatt is charged in Holmes County with fleeing/eluding law enforcement (causing injury or damage), possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended (third or subsequent offense), and criminal mischief.
He is facing additional charges in Walton County, as well as in the state of Georgia.
