VERNON- In an impressive show of sportsmanship this past week, Vernon High Basketball Yellowjackets took down Port St. Joe 66-57 and made another mark in history, advancing to the 1A state semifinals for the first time since 1982.

The Yellowjackets took down Port St. Joe, locking down their place in the Final Four for the state semifinals.

Vernon will next take on take on Hilliard on Wednesday in the state semifinals where they will play in Lakeland.

VHS Principal Brian Riviere said the Yellowjackets, "showed up in force," duirng the game.

"We so very much love our athletes, cheerleaders, our faculty and staff, our fans, this amazing town and know it’s great to be a Jacket," Riviere said.
