BONIFAY- Just in time for Christmas, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department saved the holiday season when the arrested the famous Christmas stealing bandit, “The Grinch” Friday afternoon.

According to HCSO Public Information Officer CArol Wyatt the Grinch was seen as the county’s elementary schools where the school resource officer’s caught and escorted the character from the school.

“He was told not to come back until his heart was three sizes bigger.” Wyatt said,

The festive idea, thought up by Wyatt, gave the perfect ending for students of the local elementary schools before the holiday break.

“It’s something alot of other agencies do,” Wyatt said. “Its also something fun for the kids for Christmas.”

Wyatt said the students loved the surprise visit from the popular character, who was played by a neighboring county resident Theresea Gidwell who had the costume due to her grandson.

“My grandson loves the Grinch,” Gidwell said. “So we bought it sort of because of him.”

Gidwell said when she was contacted about being asked to take part in the holiday scheme she was delighted to do it.

Wyatt said her favorite response from students was from one student at Popolar Springs who brought a candy cane up to Gidwell in her Grinch guise and told her it would help make her heart grow three sizes.

“They were like Cindy Lou Who,” She said. “It was the sweetest thing.”
