CHIPLEY - Local law enforcement is asking for the public's assistance with information regarding an armed robbery that took place on Main Street on Wednesday afternoon.

At about 2:45 p.m. the Chipley Police Department responded to a call of an armed robbery at 1664 Main Street. The victim of the robbery was on scene and informed officers that the suspect stole his 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 4-door truck, 16-foot gated black trailer with rails that carried two Exmark Lazer Z sixty-inch zero turn mowers, two blowers, and two weed eaters.

While the victim, who has not been named, was not seriously harmed, the suspect had tied him to a fence, where he had remained for 20 to 30 minutes prior to police arrival, officials said. He was taken to Northwest Florida Community Hospital and treated for minor injuries and then released.

As of Friday morning, CPD was still actively searching for the suspect. The suspect is described as a thin-build black male about six-feet tall. He was wearing a T-shirt, gray jeans, and white tennis shoes.

The stolen truck last known direction of travel was east on Interstate 10.
