FOUNTAIN - As a 20-acre wildfire is blazing in Fountain at Oak Tree Lane, officials at Florida Forest Service are urging residents in the area to stay out of the area and heed to any evacuation orders that may come.
The fire remains active, officials said.
"There's no evacuations orders at this time, but it's still a fluid situation, so an evacuation is still a possibility," said Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Joe Zwierzchowski. "Folks don't need to be out and about in that area."
Zwierzchowski also said smoke from the fire is dangerous and could obstruct roadway view.
"There are four tractor/plow units on scene as well as local fire departments," he wrote in an advisory earlier. "Another tractor/plow is in route as is a Florida Forest Service helicopter capable of dropping water."
"With many downed trees in the wake of Hurricane Michael, all precautions are being taken to protect life and property with the increased potential of wildfires and risk to firefighters."
Florida Forest Service's Chipola Forestry Center is currently responding to the fire.
