VERNON - Vernon High School sophmore running back K'Wan Powell has been invited to one of the most prestigious football camps in the country.
The year 2019 will mark the 23rd year of The Opening Regionals. This educational event has seen thousands of promising prospects learn how to be better athletes and players, and eventually go on to play at the highest level at college and the National Football League.

Lamar Jackson, Rob Gronkowski, Dalvin Cook, and Andrew Luck are all alumni of The Opening Regionals.
The Opening Regionals is the only national camp that offers athletes state-of-the-art education in both training and position-specific football from respected position coaches, while improving each player who attends -  all of which is at no cost to attendees.

Powell ran for 1,111 yards and caught 12 passes for 259 yards, scoring 17 touchdowns for Vernon this past season. He also had three interceptions on defense.
