BONIFAY – The welcome sign and medians on Highway 90 will soon see some upgrades since the Bonifay City Council approved two resolutions for beautification grants from Florida Department of Transportation when they met in regular session January 14.

The first resolution 19-05 is for the first grant in the amount of $5,103 for improvements and landscaping around the welcome sign on Highway 90. The second resolution 19-10 is for the second grant in the amount of $80,632 for landscaping and beautification of the medians from west Highway 90 to east Highway 90.

Another resolution and grant for more beautification projects is set to be approved at the next regular session meeting.

In other business, the council entered into an agreement with Dewberry Engineers to look into funding sources for downtown revitalization projects. Dewberry offered their services free of charge to the council.

Members of the council are expected to make a decision at the next meeting concerning streets that need paving in the city. A list was compiled of the roads that need the most work done to them and the cost estimates to repair them. The council should make a final decision in two weeks.

Bonifay City Council will meet again in regular session at 6 p.m. on January 29.
