The old "fall back" algorithm will be in full swing despite Governor Rick Scott and the state Legislature bi-partisan support for  the "Sunshine Protection Act." The bill pointed to agricultural and tourism benefits, and would align Florida with Hawaii and most of Arizona to retain permanent daylight saving.

However, the proposal did not obtain congressional approval which it needed in order to become law.
