CHIPLEY - Voters in Washington County showed their approval of the half-cent sales tax at the voting booth Tuesday.
The referendum passed with 58-percent (2,644 votes) of the vote.
"I'm elated and I'm appreciative of the confidence that their showing in the district," said Washington County School Board Superintendent Joe Taylor. "I'm very appreciative. Right now, I'm extremely happy."
"Thank you for the support, it is wonderful," he added.
The money garnered from the tax will be used to fund capital projects and sooth educational technology needs over the course of 10 years, beginning in January.
