CHIPLEY - Phase II of the Emerald Coast Subdivision project was approved when Washington County Planning Commission met in regular session August 7.

Currently, there are seven existing lots and seven more have been added to the subdivision.

The Emerald Subdivision site is a two-lane county road located along the 7.9-acre tract where the existing lots are to be developed as single family homes. The newly approved plat will be used for the same purposes. The initial lots were approved in November 2017 with five lots having already been sold for development.

Owner Leola Brock said there is interest in the lots.

"We have had a lot of interest in the lots thus far," said Brock. "Additional lots will add to that."

The subdivision is located at the intersection of Emerald Lane and Crystal Lake Drive. Commissioner Jim Ackerman said he is pleased with the subdivision and what it means for the county.

"I am so pleased to have this subdivision being added onto," said Ackerman. "This will add to the county’s tax base and increase revenues."

An application to construct an office space in Sunny Hills was also approved by the board.

In other business, Clemens Fuel Systems Inc. applied to construct a 1,485 square foot building to be used as an office.

The building will contain three offices and a conference room. The board unanimously approved the request.

Washington County Planning Commission will meet again in regular session at 5 p.m. on September 11.
