Investigators have charged a suspect in connection with a Northport man who was shot to death early Wednesday.
Deandre Deshawn Eaton, 20, was charged with murder early Thursday morning. He's accused of shooting David Bernard Tucker, 29, who was found in the front yard of a residence on 14th Avenue at 1:38 a.m. Wednesday.
Eaton was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail and was being held on $150,000 bond.
"Investigators believe Eaton and Tucker met in the street to conduct an illegal transaction," said Tuscaloosa County Violent Crimes Unit commander Capt. Gary Hood. "During the argument, Eaton pulled a gun and shot Tucker multiple times."
Tucker ran a short distance and collapsed in a nearby front yard, he said.
Tucker's sister said he was a loving brother with no enemies.
"He’s the type of person who would show love when he saw people that he knew,” she said Wednesday. “He kept a smile on his face at all times. My brother didn’t bother anyone, he worked and stayed to himself. This is a hard pill to swallow."
He had been working as a temp at Phifer Wire.
