Parents can stock up on clothing and school supplies the first weekend in August - tax free.
The back-to-school sales tax holiday, passed by the Florida legislature and signed into law by Gov. Rick Scott, will begin 12:01 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3 and end at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5.
During the tax-free weekend, sales tax will not be collected on certain school supplies for $15 or less per item, as well as, clothing, footwear and certain accessories selling for $60 or less per item. Excluded items are briefcases, suitcases and other garment bags, watches, jewelry, umbrellas, handkerchiefs, skis, swim fins, roller blades and skates.
