HOLMES COUNTY - Holmes County showed an improvement in unemployment rates over last month.

While Florida's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April stayed the same as March this year, Holmes County improved 0.4 percent for the same period. The county also improved 0.5 percent year over year, as was also reflected by the state's unemployment rates.

According to CareerSource Chipola, the region, which includes Calhoun, Holmes, Jackson, Liberty and Washington, had an employment rate of 3.7 percent - 0.6 percent lower than the rate a year ago.

There were 1,519 unemployed residents in the region for the same period.

The labor force for the region also improved, adding 140 jobs over the year and bringing the force number to 41,592.
