Local law enforcement agencies joined forces Wednesday in a roundup in Houma that led to the arrests of several suspected drug dealers, authorities said.

Narcotics agents from the Terrebonne Sheriff’s Office and Houma Police Department conducted independent investigations after receiving complaints regarding drug activity in the Stovall Street area, authorities said. The two departments, which had shared information throughout the three-month investigation, worked together Wednesday afternoon to arrest nine of the 19 targeted suspected drug dealers, authorities said.

Authorities obtained three search warrants for homes on Stovall Street, which were executed simultaneously by SWAT members and narcotics agents from both agencies.

In addition to the Houma Police Department and Sheriff’s Office, members of the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division and Customs and Border Patrol assisted in the operation, authorities said.

The roundup also resulted in the seizure of assorted drugs, multiple firearms – three of which were reported stolen – counterfeit money and a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

The investigation’s results were a team effort and showcased the benefits of working together for a common good, Houma Police Chief Dana Coleman said.

“When law enforcement agencies band together to combat crime, it shows the community that we stand united to fight against the issues that plague our communities,” Coleman said. “Today’s operation was a true example of that. As we walked the streets during the operation, several residents thanked the law enforcement officers for their efforts. Hearing this gives us the drive to continue our fight against crime.” ,
