PONCE DE LEON – Ponce de Leon Town Council swore in council members and the mayor when they met in regular session January 4.
Councilman Herman Knowles and Mayor Ron Farrington were sworn in by town attorney Lyndia Spears after running unopposed in the October election. Councilman Larry Coaker was also re-elected but was not sworn in due to being hospitalized.
Knowles was voted in as the new Chairman with George Robertson taking the Vice Chair.
The town council reorganizes every January.
A request for logging trucks to travel through the town’s cemetery was denied. Lack of information and communication concerning the request was the cited reason for the denial.
The Ponce de Leon Town Council will meet again in special session at 6 p.m. on January 11.
