ESTO – Residents will receive a notice in their January bills regarding the new town’s new procedures for late fees and shut off’s.

Water bills are due on the 10th of each month, a late fee will be assessed on the 11th. Should no payment be made water will be shut off and the meter locked on the 17th of the month. If the 17th falls on a Friday the water will be shut off on the following Monday.

A new ordinance was introduced to the council by Councilman John Hagans concerning junk yards.

The ordinance, if passed will regulate salvage/junk/recycling businesses in the town. The council will run ads in the paper informing the public of any hearings that will be held in reference to the ordinance.

In other business, council approved the purchase of a Massey Ferguson tractor with backhoe and bucket attachments from Atlantic Southern. The $24,750 cost will be paid in $356 monthly payments for 84 months out of the general fund.

Thomas Murphy was approved to retain the position of Chief for the Esto Fire Department when the council met in regular session January 2.

Esto Town Council will meet again in regular session at 7 p.m. on January 16.
