BONIFAY – Holmes County Board of County Commissioners conducted reorganization when the board met in regular session Nov. 28.
Commissioner Bobby Sassnet made a motion to appoint Commissioner Danny Powell as Chairman, a motion that was approved unanimously following a second by Commissioner Phillip Music.
Sassnet then made a motion to appoint Music as Vice Chair. Commissioner Mickey Locke seconded the motion, which passed in another unanimous vote.
The board also approved several resolutions during the meeting for various road projects, including resolutions for the Bonifay-Chipley and Bonifay-Gritney Roads to be paved. Both roads are classified as Small County Outreach Program (SCOP) projects through Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
A Small County Road Assistance Project (SCRAP) for paving from FDOT on County Road 162, as well as an agreement with Melvin Engineering for the survey and design of the project, were also approved.
The board also approved the purchase of a vibratory packer for $10,975, a line item commissioners had already factored in to the budget for the current fiscal year.
The State Road 79 Project saw some progress after the Commission approved a resolution for a Highway 79 Corridor Authority Planning Committee which gives the committee the authority to approving bills incurred by the project, as well as work with Opportunity Florida for disbursement of the $1 million appropriated to the project by the state.
Holmes County Board of County Commissioners will meet again in regular session at 9 a.m. on December 12.
