HOLMES COUNTY – A new service is being offered by the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) to aid in senior safety.

Seniors And Law Enforcement Together (SALT) is a service to provide reassurance to the elderly that they are not alone and will be checked on every day.

Enrolling in the program is done by calling the HCSO and answering informational questions such as, emergency contacts and health conditions. The information will be entered into a database maintained by HCSO.

A call to each person in the database will happen daily between the hours of 8 -10 a.m.. Should the call not be answered after three attempts a deputy will be dispatched to check on the individual. These calls are made seven days a week.

“Our seniors have paved the way for all of us, I feel this is the something we can do to take care of them as they have us,” said Sheriff John Tate.
