CHIPLEY - The Florida Department of Corrections states the disturbance at Northwest Florida Reception Center has now been resolved, but not before at least one staff member was injured.
According to FDOC reports, the disturbance erupted in the dining hall Friday during the morning meal. FDOC did not state how many individuals were involved, only saying "… there was a disturbance involving a number of inmates."
FDOC Director of Communications Michelle Glady reports one staff member was assaulted and received minor injuries, and no inmates were injured. The Department has placed involved inmates in confinement pending disciplinary review.
"Due to the quick response of the institution response team, the situation was quickly and effectively resolved," said Glady.
