TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Department of Corrections has confirmed that two more facilities are currently on lockdown due to disturbances.

Incidents are reportedly occurring in multiple dorms at Gulf CI Annex in Wewahitchka and at Mayo CI, located east of Perry in Lafayette County.

FDC Press Secretary Alberto C. Moscoso said staff are addressing the situation and do not expect major damage. No staff injuries and one minor injury to an inmate have been reported.

Moscoso added there have been a few minor pockets of inmates refusing to work across the state. However, these issues were quickly resolved and those prisons not on lockdown are operating normally. FDC staff are closely monitoring each facility and are prepared to respond appropriately.
