CHIPLEY — The Office of Inspector General announced the arrests of two Florida Department of Corrections employees following separate investigations.

Roberta Leeann Emery, a food service worker employed at Northwest Florida Reception Center in Chipley, was arrested March 1 for passing a $20 dollar bill to an inmate currently serving a sentence in the facility on Feb. 29.

Emery was arrested March 1 on charges of introducing contraband of with money into the prison facility. She was booked at Washington County Jail.

In an unrelated incident, a complaint filed against correctional officer Dennis J. Miller alleges sometime between Dec. 2014 and April 2015, while Miller was employed at Polk County Correctional Facility in Central Florida, he stole over $300 worth of building materials from a maintenance building.

Miller profited from the theft by returning the items to a Home Depot store in Lake Wales on April 5, 2015 and receiving a store credit of $446.

Miller was charged with grand theft and booked at the Polk County Jail. Bail was set at $1,000.
