Kids deserve a healthy present and future.

A new event on the social calendar is working to help them get it.

Fort Lauderdale-based Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth (FLIPANY) hosted its inaugural "Chefs Up Front" dinner event on Oct. 18 at The Colony’s CPB restaurant.

South Florida radio personality — and stalwart FLIPANY supporter — Kimmy B. was chairwoman for the evening, which began with a cocktail reception and silent auction, after which the guests moved to one of eight tables, each of which had a dedicated chef who prepared an interactive five-course meal tableside.

Participating chefs included Palm Beach’s own Tom Whitaker of CPB and Christopher Garvin of Meat Market as well as Miami-Fort Lauderdale chefs Paul Niederman, Jimmy Everett, Daniel Roy, Aaron Dreilinger, Chris Valdes and Angelo Arboleda.

The evening ended with a post-prandial party for both guests and chefs.

Proceeds from the evening will fund FLIPANY’s nutrition programs, which connect families with healthy food by teaching them how to prepare nutritious, tasty meals on a limited budget.

FLIPANY’s other South Florida initiatives include organized physical activities such as soccer and biking; nutrition and cooking education; and USDA after-school and summer meal programs.
