WAUSAU — an early morning a brilliant sun quickly evaporated frost as clear blue skies reigned over the first Vernon Band Booster Car Show fundraiser at the Possum Palace in Wausau, on Saturday, Feb. 2.

A selection of classic, restored and accessorized cars was on hand, accompanied by proud owners as car talk and discussion of restoration was interspersed with live band music and the aroma of barbeque.

School Superintendent Joe Taylor was on hand to sample the barbeque and school board members, Susan Roberts and Vann Brock stopped by to enjoy the automobiles, music and sunshine.

“Our first car was a 1965 Mustang, and I am looking to see if there is one of those displayed here today,” commented Roberts.

“This appears to be a successful event,” said Taylor.  “This is a beautiful day and a good day for Washington County.”

Boosters Michelle Pate and Stacey Leavins said the fundraising goal to allow the band students to go on the Disney trip to Orlando was close to being met.  “The community has always been supportive,” declared Pate, “and this event is no different. We appreciate this display of support for our children and school.”

Leavins followed up with “We can’t do these thing’s without community support and this is a giving community.”
