The grand opening of the new Vernon bridges scheduled by the Department of Transportation is set for 11 a.m., Feb. 14. There will be an unveiling of the new Vernon Bridge signs, a short program, ribbon cutting with the chamber, and lunch. The menu will be Boston butt, baked beans, cold slaw, rolls, cake, and canned drinks. Tents and tables will be available on the town square. Volunteers are needed to act as hosts and serve the meal. In case of inclement weather, the meal will be served at the Community Center.
