BONIFAY   The Holmes County Development Commission (HCDC) is working with its neighbors in Washington County to ponder future use along the new two-laned State Road 79 extending south of I-10 to the Washington County line.

HCDC executive director Raymon Thomas said meetings are just beginning with the Washington County Economic Development Council to determine which direction the City of Bonifay may want to go in with what it will aim to see happen along the widened highway.

The partnership is simply an exploratory committee for now.

CRA Director Ted Everett said the committee will look at a future economic analysis for suggestions of what potential developments could benefit both Holmes and Washington Counties.

Once road construction currently underway is finished, the next step will be the installation of water and sewer lines for any future commercial or residential development off of SR 79.

The two counties plan to look at ideas that will be advantageous to both with any future development along the major thoroughfare where the county lines meet.
