The Bonifay Garden Club held their February 2013 meeting at The Silver Door barn, hosted by Carla Templeton. Mrs. Templeton and her husband, Mark, own and operate The Silver Door. This facility is an older renovated barn that houses many varieties of crafts, ceramics, glass, painting, etc. Mrs. Templeton welcomes groups or individuals to her facility. She offers many supplies needed to craft any particular item as well as supplying the "homework" for one's particular craft. For instance, should one decide to paint a ceramic piece, Carla would provide the firing for this product.
Lynn Bartlett of Lynnís Glass Garden Art hosted the program. Lynn showcased several of her hand-made glass garden art pieces and demonstrated construction techniques. She shared her expertise with garden club members as each member designed their own glass garden ornament. This type project is very practical in cost as most of the basic glass pieces can be found at yard sales or thrift shops for an inexpensive price. Mr. Bartlett explained the properties of various waterproof glues one could use for these weathered garden art pieces and demonstrated safe use of the glue.
The Bonifay Garden Club will next meet March 8, at the Doctor's Memorial Hospital Conference room at Noon. For more information, contact Sandra Devine, President, at 850-535-2294.
