Operation Fortified Response

NEW HOPE — The New Hope Watch & Neighborhood Emergency
Preparedness Program Director, Michelle Hill, will participate in the
Solar Storm Exercise "Operation Fortified Response" at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 4. This is a computer generated exercise that allows the community to see there roll, in the
event of a disaster.

Light House Yard Sale

BONIFAY — Lighthouse Assembly of God Women’s Ministry will be holding a yard sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 7 and 8. Proceeds go to the women’s projects for improving the church. Supper with ‘Deputy Enos’

BONIFAY — There will be a General Lee Reunion at the Down Home Car Show with “Deputy Enos,” Sonny Shroyer, from the Dukes of Hazard at the Bonifay Down Home Street Festival on March 16 at Veterans Park in Bonifay.

Purchase a $5 ticket for a chance for you and two guests to enjoy “Supper with Enos” on March15.

Shaddai Shriners Low Country Boil

PANAMA CITY — The Shaddai Shriners will be having an all you can eat low country boil starting at 5 p.m. on March 16. Dinner will consist of shrimp, corn on the cob, sausage, potatoes and what ever we can throw in the pot. Here will be music, fun and fellowship come party with the Shriners. This is a BYOB event or you can enjoy the Shriners Oasis. The boil will be held at 1101 West 19th Street in Panama City.


Bonifay Down Home Street Festival Car Show

BONIFAY — There will be a Car and Truck show at the Bonifay Down Home Street Festival on March 16. There will be a top 50, 50/50 drawing and dash plaques. Registration will be from 8 to 10 a.m. with awards being given at 2:30 p.m. The entry fee is $20 per car or truck. Also at this years  car show we will hold a General Lee Reunion, bring out you General Lee for this special event. Down Home Festival ‘Bakin’ Wars’

BONIFAY — This year’s festival will boast a “Bakin’ Wars” at 9:30 a.m. on March 16. There will be two divisions, youth and adult. If you love to bake and or decorate here is your chance to shine.

Bring your masterpiece out to the Bonifay Down Home Street Festival for a chance to win a ribbon. There is a $5 entry fee for all cakes, pies, cupcakes, and cake pops. You must bring all entries completed and ready for judging to the Bakin’ Wars tent located beside the Down Home Street Festival information booth. The festival is located along veteran’s Blvd., in Bonifay.

26th Annual French Reunion

BONIFAY — The 26th Annual French Family Reunion will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 17. Come be apart of your family heritage. The reunion will be held at the Bonifay Ag Center located on Highway 90 one mile east of Bonifay. Many local families come from this family tree line. Woman’s Club plans Game Night

BONIFAY — The Bonifay Woman’s Club will hold their annual Game Night fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 21 at the Holmes County High School Library.

Games will include Bridge, Bunco, hand and foot, Canasta, Mexican train dominoes and others. Door prizes will be given and refreshments served. Tickets are S10 and can be purchased from club members.

Two-Toed Tom Festival Beauty Pageant

ESTO — The Two-Toed Tom Festival Beauty Pageant will be held on April 5 and 6, at the Graceville Civic Center. The entry fee is $50 with all proceeds going to the Two-Toe Tom Festival celebration. Contestants may participate in photogenic for an additional $10. This is an open pageant. Application deadlines for the pageant are March 22. Participants must be between the ages of Zero and 20. Child Find Pre-K Screening offered

CHIPLEY — Washington County School District and FDLRS/PAEC co-sponsor Child Find Pre-K screenings to identify children with disabilities and/or special needs. Eligible children must be: ages 3 to 4 years old, suspected of having a disability, and not enrolled in public school.

Each child is screened in the areas of vision, hearing, speech, language, and overall development. Screening appointments are scheduled every month in each county.

The parent or legal guardian must provide permission for the child to participate in the screening.

Screenings are scheduled by appointment only by calling the Child Find office at 638-6131 ext. 2310 or toll free 1-873-877-7232 ext. 2310. This office serves Bay, Calhoun, Franklin, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Liberty, Walton, and Washington Counties.


Spring Plant Sale

DOTHAN, Ala. — The Wiregrass Master Gardener Association will be holding its annual Spring Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 12 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 13. The sale will be held in the master gardener nursery at the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens located on Headland Avenue in Dothan, Ala. Plants to be included are: annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, ground covers, vines and ornamental grasses, trees shrubs, bulbs, house and tropical plants and succulents. The Association will provide soil pH testing, kits for soil analysis, and fire ant  control information.

Admission to the sale and the gardens is free and we encourage you to tour the beautiful gardens while at the sale. Our plants are lovingly grown by master gardeners and reasonable priced. Purchase you plants from the gardens of the masters and receive knowledgeable planting information.
