Week 9 Football Heroes (See Stories, Photos, Standings)
Here are the Week 9 Football Heroes:
Cordarryl Rogers, Rutherford: The Rams’ senior has a way of turning into a hero on most Friday nights. Last week, he rushed for a game-high 182 yards and a touchdown and also passed for 76 yards and another score in Rutherford’s 23-14 win over county rival Arnold.
Colby Hartzog, Chipley: He made contributions to Chipley’s run game, but made a bigger mark on defense. He had two interceptions and batted away a fourth-down pass attempt to help seal Chipley’s 28-21 victory over Holmes County.
Blountstown’s defense: Much of the Tigers’ resurgence has been due to a punishing offensive attack that wears down opponents. However, the defense also has been just as stellar, including holding down Port St. Joe in a recent critical game. Blountstown recorded its first shutout of the season in beating Franklin County 41-0, and the Tigers have now held four opponents to seven points or less.
