Prep roundup (11/24): Bay girls, Arnold boys win

FORT WALTON BEACH — Bay’s Tanesha Middleton scored 12 points to lead the Lady Tornadoes past West Florida Tech in the Choctawhatchee Thanksgiving Invitational basketball tournament on Tuesday.

The Tornadoes (4-1) will play St. James Catholic for fifth place in the tourney today at 4:30 p.m.

Shanteria Webb added 10 points and Kristian Robertson had eight.

Bay led 27-8 at halftime.

The Lady Tornadoes lost their first game of the season on Tuesday in the tournament, 68-34 to Pensacola High. Middleton had 10 points and Robertson eight for Bay.

Boys basketball

Arnold 79, Covenant 47

PANAMA CITY — Jarvious Johnson drained six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 30 points for Arnold. Nate Hicks added 19 for the Marlins.

Ben Dobernig scored 26 and had eight rebounds for Covenant, while Parker Sheffield had six points and six assists and Kristo Kleimeyer nine rebounds and seven points.

Arnold won the JV game 58-29. Jordan Nowells led Arnold with 10 points. Covenant’s Matt Frandille scored 19 points in the losing effort.

Covenant (3-3) is at Wewahitchka on Monday.
