Arnold's Hodges, Rutherford's Wyllie move on to XC state

LAKE CITY — Mikayla Hodges became the first Arnold cross country runner ever to advance to the state meet and Rutherford’s Andrew Wyllie continued his late-season excellence to join her in the Region 1-2A meet held at Alligator Lake Park.

Hodges was fourth in the girls 5,000-meter run in 19 minutes, 31.96 seconds. Kaysi Roberts of West Florida won the race in 18:53 and Bolles High School was the team champion. Arnold was ninth, the top six teams and 15 individuals advancing to the 2A state meet next weekend in Dade City.

Wyllie placed ninth in 16:50.94 in the boys division, won by Michael Barr of team champion Bishop Kenny in 16:08. Marianna was seventh as a team, Rutherford 10th and Arnold 11th.
