State track: Parker, PSJ girls dominant in title win
WINTER PARK — Port St. Joe senior Kayla Parker was perfect at Friday’s Class 1A state track and field meet.
She won four state titles to lead the Tiger Sharks to a dominating win with 94.5 points, clear in front of second-place Holy Trinity of Melbourne, which scored 61 at Showalter Field.
Parker won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 5.5 inches, the 100-meter dash in 12.23 seconds, the 100 hurdles in 14.27 and the 200 in 25.13.
Alone, she accounted for 40 points.
The quartet of Mariah Johnson, Fanequa Larry, Ashleigh Lewis and Naomi Warren won the 4x400 relay.
The Community School of Naples was third with 50 points, Maclay was fourth with 44.5, Westminster Academy was fifth with 36, Orlando First Academy and P.K. Yonge tied for sixth with 32. There were 45 teams in the state meet.
