Rickards 65, Arnold 39

Tyeshia Guinnie scored 22 points for Tallahassee Rickards, which led 21-6 after one quarter and cruised to the Region 1-5A quarterfinal victory.

Grace Tennyson tossed in 15 points to pace Arnold, which ended its season 12-15 overall. Jo Jo Booker added 11, and Katie Robertson had eight for the Marlins, who trailed 37-21 at halftime.

Shannon Owens and Kanisha Jackson scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, for Rickards. The Raiders will host Wakulla on Tuesday.

No other details were reported. A phone call made to Arnold coach Bryan Normand was not returned.

Softball

Rutherford 8, Bozeman 1

SPRINGFIELD — Becca Taylor hurled a two-hitter with six strikeouts, and she added two hits at the plate for Rutherford (2-0). Aaliyah Maiben had three hits, and Bridget Keasey (double) and Chelsey Childers added two hits apiece for the Rams, who play at Mosley on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Mosley 9, Chipley 1

CHIPLEY — Jill Johnson drove in four runs at the plate and scattered six hits in a complete-game effort in the pitcher’s circle for Mosley (2-0). Andrea McKenzie was 3 for 3, and Selina Estrada doubled and singles for the Dolphins, who trailed 1-0 before scoring four runs in the sixth inning and five more in the seventh.

Holmes County 21, Walton 5

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — Jenna Sellers had five hits and four RBIs, and Hannah Prescott added three hits and drove in six runs for Holmes County in the rout. The Blue Devils (3-0) rapped out 24 hits. Winning pitcher Sarah Pippin also had four hits at the plate, as did Courtney Reeves. Andrea Arnold added three hits and three RBIs for Holmes County, which plays at Bay on Monday.

Middle school tennis

North Bay Haven’s girls won three of five singles matches and both doubles matches to defeat Arnold 5-2 in a junior varsity match. In singles, Mary Katherine Webb, Lindsey Talkington and Emmie Haas each won for North Bay Haven (2-0). Webb teamed with Joy Haas for one doubles win, and Talkington paired with Emmie Haas for another doubles win for NBH. Izzy Nield and Taylor Hurt each won singles matches for Arnold. The Marlin boys defeated North Bay Haven 4-3. Taylor Jackson, Blake Augustine and Justin Kosky each won for Arnold in singles play, and Jackson and Hunter Simmons teamed for a doubles victory. Nick Amley and Derek Eames won singles matches for NBH (0-2), and Amley and Jacob Kiefer won their doubles match. North Bay Haven plays Choctawhatchee on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
