Martin returns home to get HCHS ready for 2008

BONIFAY – Holmes County High School is preparing for the 2008 football season and the new coach is no stranger to the Blue Devils. HCHS alumni Carlin Martin came over from Marianna to assume the head-coaching job for the coming season.

“I’m excited about then start of the season and I’m excited to come back to coach,” Martin said. “I’m excited for me personally, but I also feel I have a close tie with the boys because I’ve been where they have been and been where they are going. The boys are excited.”

Martin and his staff have been working hard on the fundamentals since practice began Aug. 11, with a new offense a large part of the effort. Martin is stressing hard work and extra effort as the pre-season comes to a close this week.

“If we can make an average player better and a better player even better that that, then you have something,” Martin said.

“There is no magic formula. I think the boys are working as hard as they can. I can’t imagine them working harder.
