Mosley's Davis finds home with Troy University
LYNN HAVEN — Troy University mined this area like a seasoned prospector and its final nugget was Ethan Davis.
The Mosley senior was the last of five area recruits to sign with the Trojans on Wednesday. He joined his older brother, Enrique, as a fellow Division I signee.
Now he’s ready to carve his niche in Troy, Ala.
“I’m really excited to join a growing program,” Davis said. “The coaches told me about all the things they have done and it makes you excited to be a part of it.”
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Davis played running back and defensive back for the Dolphins last season. He said he will be a cornerback at Troy, and also be expected to contribute as a punt and kickoff returner.
The celebratory day came after months of letters and phone calls from college suitors. Davis said having a brother who also was heavily recruited helped him know what to expect. That knowledge, coupled with a lifelong dream, gave Davis the clear sight to achieve his goal.
“I have been ready for this day since I was a little kid,” Davis said. “I have been ready to get here.”
Davis aims to study communications and join the sports journalism field. Perhaps one day he will detail the highlights of top stars. That day will come in the future, as he’s concerned with making his own highlights now.
“I want to be a go-to player,” Davis said. “I want to be a big-time player even in my first year.”
