Prep roundup (Oct. 9): Mosley teams win county golf titles

PANAMA CITY BEACH - Mosley's Hillary Maddox was medalist with a 45 and the Dolphins claimed the county girls golf championship with a win over Arnold and Rutherford on Thursday at the Holiday Golf Club.

Mosley finished with a 191. Arnold was second at 208 and Rutherford third at 246.

Other Mosley scores included Lindsey McCambry 47, Ginny Shipman 48 and Ashley Ingram 51.

Samantha Bates led the Marlins with a 46 while Lura Edge had a 53, Kayla Frost 55 and Kali DeBerry 54 for Arnold.
Elizabeth Heikkinen led Rutherford with a 55, Lindsay Mahalak had a 56, Amy Caswell 65 and Ellen Truchon 60.

Mosley will compete in the District 2-A golf tournament on Tuesday at the Raven golf course in Sandestin. Crestview, Niceville, Rutherford, Tallahassee Leon, Chiles and Lincoln also will compete in the 18-hole event.

Arnold plays in the District 1-A tournament at Bay Point Meadows on Tuesday with South Walton, Marianna, Freeport and Walton.

County Golf Championship

LYNN HAVEN
Michael Riley shot an even-par 72 to win the individual title and lead three Mosley golfers in a 1-2-3 finish to claim the county championship by 33 shots over second-place Arnold at the Panama Country Club.

Mosley's Chase Seiffert finished second with a 73 and Taylor Murphy was third with a 74.

Arnold was led by Hudson Meeks with a 78 and Tyler Chivara with a 79.

Greg Bryan led Rutherford with a 79, while Blake May added an 84 for the Rams. Tyler Rish led Bay with an 89.

Arnold's Haley Lanier had 10 kills and 10 digs as the Marlins downed Bay 26-24, 25-19, 25-22 in a county match.
Arnold's Bella Camperlengo had seven kills and three digs, Katie Stellman had 13 kills, five digs and three aces and Kristen Miller 23 assists and two kills.

Bay's Lindsey Morrow had eight kills, eight digs and two blocks, Kristian Robertson had 10 assists, three digs and three blocks while Brooke Hood had 13 digs.

Bay won the junior varsity match 15-25, 25-23, 15-13. Jaime Bell led the Tornadoes with 10 digs and 2 digs.

The Marlins (14-4 overall, 9-1 in District 4-2A) plays Sneads and Liberty County in a trimatch on Saturday in Sneads. Arnold hosts Navarre on Tuesday.

Bay plays at Wakulla on Tuesday.

VERNON
Deanna Canfield had 14 assists, nine kills, 12 digs and seven aces to lead the Dolphins to a 25-11, 25-18, 25-15 victory. Mosley (16-4) had to rally from 14-6 behind in the second set to earn the sweep.

Other top performers for Mosley included Megan Williams with 10 kills; Ann Delaney with 18 assists, and three kills; Kelsey Bell with 13 kills; and Cayce May with 24 service points and nine digs.

The Mosley JV team beat Vernon 25-7, 25-16. Ashley Childs had 10 aces, Cassie Padula had eight kills, Amanda Singletary had seven kills, and Tasha Trazka had 16 assists.

PANAMA CITY BEACH
Mosley's girls won the team title in the girls meet, led by Chelsey Williams and Lessie Skiba who finished second and third overall.

Arnold's Lauren Vonderharr won the girls individual race in 22:06.

Arnold placed five runners in the Top 14 in the boys meet, led by Jacob Slaughter and Hector Rodriguez who finished fifth and sixth, while Molsey had two of the first four finishers.

Each team scored 46 points in the meet; Arnold won the meet because its sixth runner finished ahead of Mosley's sixth runner.

Bay's Gabe Holquin won the individual race in 18:24, 30 seconds ahead of Mosley's Franke Menna in second place. Bay's Alec Lippman was third in 19:05, and Mosley's Phil Cochran was fourth in 19:07.
