Franklin County's Modican signs with Florida Tech
EASTPOINT — Dalin Modican of Franklin County, who graduated in 2011, signed Wednesday to play football for the Florida Tech Panthers, a Division II program located in Melbourne. FIT is a member of the Gulf South Conference.
Modican, 5-foot-11, 183 pounds, was a quarterback, receiver and defensive back for the Seahawks. He becomes the first player to commit on national signing day since Franklin County High School opened as a consolidation of former Apalachicola and Carrabelle high schools.
His career totals include 1,522 yards rushing, 34 touchdowns rushing and receiving, 1,134 yards passing and 11 TD passes, five interceptions and seven defensive touchdowns.
Modican also scored the first touchdown and registered the first interception in school history.
“We are extremely excited for both Dalin and for the Florida Tech Panther football program,” Franklin coach football coach and athletic director Josh Wright said. “Tech is getting a great leader with the ability to make plays from a multitude of positions.
“He has never lost sight of his goals and our county wishes him the best of luck.”
