CHIPLEY —Chipley’s Lady Tigers trounced the Northview Chiefs 7-1 on Tuesday in the second round of the Class 1A Rural District 2 Softball District Tournament, being held in Chipley.

The Tigers will face the Jay Royals at 6 p.m. Thursday in the district championship game, which will also be played at Chipley High School.

Jay defeated Baker 6-1 Tuesday in Chipley to move on to the district championship game.

The Chiefs finished their year with a 14-1 regular season.

Northview pitcher Misty Doran threw fast and hard, but seemed to have trouble keeping the Lady Tigers on home plate.

Chipley pitcher Mallory Dean tossed six scoreless innings, with the Northview squad only getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh when Angel Lathan made it home following a scramble on an unsuccessful bunt by Ariel Holland.

The rest of the evening belonged to the Tigers. Chipley’s Sarah Gilbert scored in the first inning on a double by Lexi Helms.
