Softball playoffs - Bethlehem takes District
Vernon 7, Jay 3
The Vernon High School Lady Jackets softball team defeated Jay High School on Tuesday night in the district semi-final with a score of 7-3. Vernon will advance to the district championship game against Baker on Thursday at 6 p.m
Chipley 12, Marianna 2
Chipley won the first game of the District 2-3A softball tournament Tuesday night, beating Marianna 12-2. Chipley hammered out 12 hits through five innings to advance to the district championship game Thursday night. Rachael Fowler had three hits, three RBI and three runs. Skylar Davis was 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Kassi Shackelford was 2-3 and scored two runs. Davis gave up three hits and struck out six. Chipley will host Holmes County in the district championship game Thursday at 7 p.m.
Graceville 12, Poplar Springs 2,
Bethlehem 24, Malone 4
Shaquelle Johnson ripped a home run as the Malone Tigers defeated Poplar Springs in a District 2-1A semifinal game.
Kelly Leuenberger scored three runs and Jessica Baxley had three RBIs as the Tigers advanced to the championship game on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Bethlehem, a 24-4 winner over Malone in the other semifinal. Bethlehem’s Erin McCormick had a home run and four RBIs and Alex Potter had three RBIs. Photos under Photo Galleries.
Bethlehem 12, Graceville 2
The Bethlehem Lady Wildcats defeated the Graceville Lady Tigers 12-2 in five innings on Thursday night to capture the district title. Jennifer Hatcher (Bethlehem catcher) hit an over the fence home-run (her first ever). Whitley Albury pitched for Bethlehem.
