Hicks chooses Ga. Tech

Arnold graduate Nate Hicks didn’t need much time to make a decision on his basketball future.

He signed a financial aid agreement with the Yellow Jackets during his official visit to Georgia Tech last weekend.

“We’re fortunate to find a quality student-athlete like Nate at this late stage,” Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt said. “He had a tremendous senior year and was clearly one of the most improved players in the state of Florida. We look forward to working with him.”

Hicks was released from his scholarship to Tulane last week, a result of the Green Wave changing coaches after he signed. Hicks narrowed his re-recruitment to Georgia Tech and Florida State, but the Seminoles made it clear he was their second choice.

Hicks averaged 21.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocks as a senior for the Marlins.
