Graceville looking to veterans for 2008 season

GRACEVILLE - Graceville Coach Todd Wertenberger admits he doesn’t have big numbers of players for the upcoming season, but he knows he has quality.

“We have a good nucleus of returning players,” Wertenberger said last week. “We don’t have the numbers we had last year, but we have talent, and we hope to be a force in our district.”

The Tigers return four of five starters on both lines and senior quarterback Justin Miles to run the option. Treyshawn White and Leron Hoover will try and take up a lot of the slack at running back from the graduated J.J. Laster.

That district included FAMU, and the Tigers host their district arch rivals on Oct. 24.

“We challenged for the district championship last year and lost it to FAMU for the second year in a row,” Wertenberger said. “It’s also a big district game.”
