Arnold's Harrison qualifies for state golf

PENSACOLA — Arnold’s Lindsey Harrison qualified for the Class 1A state tournament after firing a 94 in the Region 1-1A tournament held at the A.C. Read Golf Club.

Harrison placed fourth individually, but the three golfers ahead of her all were part of teams that advanced to state. That opened the door for Harrison as the lone Marlin to qualify on a day filled with high totals.

Pensacola Catholic won the team title with a combined score of 397. Tallahassee Maclay placed second, just three strokes behind the winning Crusaders.

Arnold qualified for the regional as a team, but only had two players participate. Michaela Cooley shot a 130 for Arnold.

The state tournament will be held Nov. 1-2 at Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake.

The Arnold, Bay and Holmes County boys golf teams fell short of qualifying for state in the Region 1-1A tournament. Arnold shot a 333, Bay 360 and Holmes County 374.

Brandon Webb led Arnold with an 81. Hudson Meeks shot an 83, Kip Karani 84 and Eric Stein 85 for the Marlins.

Sam McClane paced Bay with an 81. Daniel Fowler shot 83, Michael Fowler 94 and Michael Lincoln 104 for the Tornadoes.

Trevor Bush shot 77, Michael Thompson 81, Peyton Glover 107 and Tyler Phelps 109 for Holmes County.

Also in 1-1A, Rutherford’s Chris Walters shot an 89 and Marianna’s Kaidd Golden 93 while competing as individuals.

In 1-2A at Pace, Mosley’s Jeremy Senterfitt shot an 81.
