Freeport routs hapless Rocky Bayou

FREEPORT — The defense almost outdid the offense.

The Freeport football team recovered four fumbles and pulled down three interceptions resulting in four touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 64-6 homecoming victory over Rocky Bayou Christian.

“We knew our defense was capable,” Freeport coach Jim Anderson said. “But I’m real proud of them.”

With the defense doing a lot of the work, the Bulldog starting offense was on the field for only seven plays in the first half, scoring three touchdowns.

But Monday it’s back to work for the Bulldogs (9-1) as they get ready to host Blountstown in the first round of the playoffs.

“We’ve got a really good Blountstown team coming in here, so we’ve got to outwork them and outplay them,” Anderson said.

Against Rocky Bayou (0-10), it was Freeport’s Nathan Hendrickson who struck first on a 78-yard zig-zag to the end zone. Justin Farmer followed with the extra-point kick, his first of eight on the night.

Seconds later, the Bulldogs defense kicked in with Paul Holmes scooping up a loose ball and running it back 30 yards for the score.

The Knights made one first down before fumbling it away. Freeport scored in three plays with David Wesson scoring on a 25-yard run. The Freeport defense scored the next two touchdowns. Cody Binder picked up a fumble and ran it back 10 yards for the score, then Brandon Wood picked off a Rocky Bayou pass and scampered 77 yards.

The Bulldog offense scored one more time in the first half on a 19-yard run by Holmes and led 43-0.

In the third, Rocky Bayou scored its only touchdown of the game on a 2-yard run by James Waldron. Waldron rushed for 197 yards on 41 carries. Aaron Cain completed 4-of-7 passes for 79 yards.

Myrick connected with Zack Waldrip for a 10-yard touchdown and also rushed for a touchdown. David Bartlett scored the last Freeport touchdown when he picked off a pass and ran it back 96 yards.

I don't know what is worse Obama as president or Holley as head coach. What has this country come to?

When was the last time Chipley went 0-10? And why does a coach play Florida High on Homecoming? That alone shows ignorance.

The question is will Sam work on the reading scores at KMS?

I think it would be a good idea to add the notion to Fire the head football coach Will Holley at Chipley High School.
