    SNEADS — Cottondale expanded a 16-13 halftime lead to deny Bozeman its first district basketball championship, as both squads prepped for next week’s regional tournament.
    Marcus Humose scored 16 points and Jacob Herring 11 for Cottondale, 17-10, which won its second district title in three seasons. Dylon Kenney and TJ Schrier each had eight points for the Bucks, 11-13.
    “They do a good job of controlling tempo, Coach (Cas) Gant’s kids are very organized,” Cottondale coach Chris Obert said of Bozeman. “They stay within theirself and try and make you play at the tempo they want you to play.”
    Bozeman will travel to play District 1-2A champion Baker (23-3) in its inaugural regional game on Thursday. Cottondale will host Freeport (15-12).

PONCE DE LEON - Jarrod Batson scored 21 points, Stephen Shelley scored 20 and Josh Rose added 13 in the Gators’ win over host Ponce de Leon in the District 1-2A tournament semifinals.
    Chad Donley had six rebounds, eight assists and five steals.
